Using basic crafting techniques, these fortune cookies can be made very easily. They work well as party favors and can also be used as decorations or to celebrate Chinese New Year. The materials you will need are listed below:
- Craft paper
- Pencil
- A pair of scissors
- Washi Tape (with writing or quotations)
- Double sided tape or craft glue
- A Pringles lid or other round object
The first step is to trace around the Pringles lid using a sharp lead pencil. Draw as many as you require and cut them out with a pair of scissors.
Fold the edges of the circles inwards until both sides overlap (this can be seen in the image below). Secure using double sided tape or craft glue. Cut out small rectangles from the craft paper and decorate with washi tape. The tape I have used says ‘have a nice day’, ‘seize the day’ and various other sayings. Slide the rectangle inside the cookie and then fold it in half.
Join both sides of the cookie together using double sided tape and puff out the pockets using your fingers to make it look more realistic.
These fortune cookies will sure to be a crowd pleaser and make wonderful decorative items for your event.
